So after reviewing the results from this post, I have decided it would be appropriate to add the following to the list:
SK calls the described children's game ' Monkey in the Middle'. AB calls it 'Pig in the Middle'.
Question: Where does this leave us SK turned AB folk who married an Albertan?
Answer : With very confused kids.
PS - the other 2 options in the poll were other names the game has been called according to the internet.

I have a Question for YOU!
I am a Saskatchewanian (is that a word?), that is no secret. I live in Alberta. That is no secret. We are different. Very different. How you ask? Let me continue.
1. In SK we wear Bunnyhugs. In AB they wear hoodies.
2. In SK we bleed green at football games. In AB they are outnumbered by said SK fans.
3. In SK we put clamato juice in our beers. YUMMMMY.
4. In SK we sleep in tents when we camp. In AB they go to B&B.
5. In SK we get actual % in university. In AB they get letters.
6. In SK you pay have the cost of daycare (I recently learned this one)
7. In SK you refer to people as 'cuz' even though you aren't in fact cousins. Albertans don't do that. And neither do I for that matter.
8. In SK (or PA anyhow) we have a grand march when we graduate highschool. In AB they do not.
9. In SK they do not teach you that you can turn left on a one way street to a one way street on a red light (Probably because there aren't any. In AB they do.
10. In SK the squirrels are normal sized. In AB I think they use steroids.
The list could go on and on.... This is where I need your help. We were at Heritage Park with James' side of the family recently and we were talking about a certain game that everybody plays as kids. We disagreed on the name of the game. I think it may be an AB vs. SK thing.
It is the game where you have 2 kids tossing a ball over a third kids head as he tries to catch it. When he does, he gets to be a thrower and the other kid has to go in the middle. And so it continues... What did YOU call this game when you were little?
I am very curious to see what you called it.

My first Kijiji Purchase
A few weeks ago we made our first purchase on Kijiji and bought this.
So far, it is a big hit withthe Gman. He loves going to the park behind our house and this just gives him a mini version right in our backyard! Between this, his swing and his red car from this post, he can keep himself pretty busy!
As per usual, Grady needs to 'taste' everything to see if it is suitable.
The slide is always his faborite part of the park and this is no different. He tries to walk of the slide and gets quite frustrated!

Webster
My friend Jenn and her boyfriend Josh got a brand new puppy named Webster. He is the sweetest little puppy I have ever seen!
Here Grady is getting down to Webster's level to check him out...
'He doesn't look so bad... but I better take an extra close look just in case...'
Here it may appear that Grady was giving Webster is toy.. but in reality he was probably trying to steal it from him. Dog and babies toys seem to be quite similar but dog toys are cheaper!

A Great Way to Spend a Rainy Afternoon!
We headed to Market Mall last week due to the large quantities of rain that have been falling. I have always wanted to let Grady play in the play area at the mall but there has either been a long line up or we didn't have socks (which both parent and child need). So Friday we headed over with high hopes of getting in. It was 2:06 when we arrived and the earliest time we could play was 4pm. I thought there was no way we were going to be at the mall that long. We put our name on the list anyhow and proceeded with our shopping. When we were all through it was 3:45 and we decided to stay and try out the area. Best decision I made in a long time. He LOVED it! i think the pictures below confirm this!
Here he is trying to climb in the car.
He went through this tunnel countless times squealing with delight!
He played with several of the hanging toys on the side.
Here he is practically running to the next toy.
I didn't beleive it when another mom there told me she has to pull her son away crying at the end of the half hour. We were there for the full 30 minutes allocated per play session. No tears were shed when our time was up thankfully!
Grady and I are both excited to go back!

Happy Birthday Daddy!
I really enjoyed eating cake again at your early birthday supper and especially blowing out the candles!
I am looking forward to watching football with you in the fall wearing my Oakland Raiders Shirt that I picked out and ordered. It will be 'man time'! I will help you open your gift from Mom tonite when you get home from work.
I miss you today and wish we could spend the day together!
Have a great day!
Love,
Grady

I heart Second Cup!
Does this photo remind you of a previous post??
Grady and I still enjoy an occational (every second day-ish) skinny vanilla bean (or Chai) latte from Second cup. I drink the coffee. Grady eats the cup. One day this week it was well deserved since a certain little person got up before 6am. On those days we always go for a latte run.
A few weeks back when we walked in to Second Cup the owner said hello with a huge smile on his face as if he hadn't seen me forever... I thought to myself, does he really know me? Do I come here that much?I guess I do tote around the cutest little one year old boy in an unusually wide stroller that gets stuck in the door every time we go. But really... he remembers me?
So the other day (before 8am) we headed over to Second Cup in said extra wide stroller. We arrive at the door and I am pulling Grady in from the front and another customer is trying to leave. I am stuck. Of course. He nicely holds the door as open as he could get it and Grady and I squeeze through. The owner looks at me, smiles again, and said 'You got stuck again'. I nicely replied 'You need to get wider doors'. I apparently go there to much.
As I am ready to leave I nicely ask one of the workers to hold the door open for me as I always do and Grady and I were on our way. I am sure going to miss these outings when I go back to work. Guess I'll just have to start going for more lattes in the weeks to come!
PS - HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE JAMES!

Grady's Room
On Bo's tip... we headed to Superstore clearance area to check out these photos for Grady's room. They were $10 each. Only $10! What. A. Steal. I only bought 3 pictures the first day with hopes of putting them in an 'L' shape. Apparently that was 2 modern for James as he made me go back for the 4th. So we added the butterfly to the mix. It doesn't really fit into the african theme of the others but it was either that or a ladybug or sheep. I liked this one the best. What was really embarrassing was that the teller at Superstore recognized me from the day before. I obviously go the same places over and over. Second Cup being another..... stay tuned for that story in the next few days!

Ode to a Water Bottle
You see... I had this water bottle. It was not just any water bottle. My mom brought it back from Vegas for me a long time ago, like 8 years ago. I was living in Saskatoon at the time. Yes. It has been that long. The straw was grubby, the inside was not quite white anymore and the paint was peeling off the exterior. I love this water bottle. Here is a picture of said bottle.

Do you recognize it? All my past roommates are now grinning ear to ear thinking 'ahhh that water bottle'. I know you are. For those of you that know me, I consume a lot of water. If I am at home 100% of the water comes from this bottle. If you have been to my house you have likely seem me drink from the bottle or noticed it sitting nicely on my counter or in the family room waiting to be refilled. So you can imagine how devastating it was for me when just this past week I dropped the water bottle on our kitchen floor and it cracked. Cracked.
No more water Rainforest Cafe water bottle. I have shared so many memories with my water bottle and in honor of this I want to take a trip down memory lane..... tear tear.
Here the bottle is enjoying a nice conversation with me and my 2 sisters.
Enjoying beers with my BFF Deena and her now husband Dan on my 25th Bday. Yes... 5 years ago!
Here is a picture of me and bottle at 6:30am on my wedding day, September 10th, 2005, enjoying my last coffee as a single woman. I cannot believe I am showing this picture... but just to show you how many special days my bottle and I shared....

Cheryne and Les at a BBQ in July 2007...... Bottle is hanging out in the corner waiting to be refilled. I am sure it was refilled many times the next day as I remember consuming many beverages that night. Now that I think about it - I think I spilt a glass of red wine on our brand new carpet. Yup that was the night!

Here bottle is trying to figure out why it is not so quiet around the house anymore and why these new bottles that the new person is drinking out of have moved in?
Bottle helping my Dad put together Grady's swing.

And finally bottle bonding with my little man. Grady always liked my bottle better than his own sippy cup. Can't say I blame him.

Sadly..... the time has come to replace my favorite water bottle that has been with me for nearly 10 years. The biggest reason that I have not replaced it over the years has been the inability to find the same model, aka from the 80s. They used to be all over the place like at macs and 7-11. Remember those Fido Dido ones... I know you do!
With a glimmer of hope we walked down to Superstore to see what we could find. We purchased this water bottle.

At first I was very dissappointed. You could not guzzle the whole bottle like you could with the former bottle. There was no where for the air to release so the bottle would collapse. I discovered that if you do not tighten the lid all the way the air can escape and you can get the whole bottle down in one gulp (in case anyone else is interested). Believe me. I have done it several times.
Once I figured this little trick out the new bottle works great. I can tell that we will be best buds in the years to come. Hopefully not 1o years. I did buy 2 so I have a backup.
The real test was whether Grady would accept this new bottle.

'Works great Mom! Good choice!
Many people were thrilled to hear of the 'passing' of my bottle. My Mom and James to name a few. I am just starting to wander now why I did not move into the 21st century years ago with this much more modern bottle.
I miss you Rainforest Cafe water bottle. You will always be remembered!

Finished Product!
So after 5 weeks of waiting... Chad from Fuller Edge Photography came over to deliver and hang our pictures! We are so happy with how they turned out! The pictures we hung above the TV are 18"x24" so pretty big.... but didn't they turn out great???
(Mom - if you look at the picture right behind the monitor... it is yours. We are using it until you come to claim it!)
And close up.....
This one is our absolute favorite! I smile each and every time I see it! I am confident that this one will be on our walls in 20 years still!
This is in our bedroom. I tried really hard to not include James' piles and piles of laudry, but it just couldn't be done! (hint hint James... time to do laundry!)

Insights on Turning 30
I wish I could say I had something really insightful to say about turning 30, but to be truthful, it was just another day being a woman, wife, and mommy. Maybe turning 30 didn't affect me as I am very content and happy with where I am currently and what I have accomplished in my twenties. My second decade was full of changes and I wouldn't change a thing. Sure there were ups and down and things I may have done differently now, but all those events have helped shape me into the person I am today. And for that, I would do it all over again exactly the same.
Some highlights....
- Moving to Saskatoon and going to university. On this note I want to comment directly to Blaire and Kolby (who are likely my only teen and early 20s readers). Take the time to enjoy your university years - I didn't realize how good they were until they were over and I became a working girl.
- Moving to Calgary. This was a huge decision as I knew only Gina living here. Although I miss my friends and family terribly some days, if I hadn't come to Calgary I would have never met James....
- Meeting James. I re-met James my second night in Calgary after I moved permanently. James and his friend came over to mine and Kandis' apartment for dinner. Who knew I would marry him one day!
- Preparing for and writing the UFE. Next to my summer when I worked in Calgary this was my favorite summer 'job' ever. Studying by day and fun by night. All it was missing was a paycheck!
- Weddings, weddings, and more weddings! Carmen, then Deena, followed by Sara, next me, then Cheryne..... June 2010 it will be 5 times a bridesmaid (congrats Can and Mike!) and already a bride (you know, not never a bride, as the saying goes). I am so fortunate to take part in my best friend's wedding days.
- And of course Grady. My little G-dawg is my favourite memory of my 20s. Still remember his birth day like it was yesterday. Such a memorable day!
What do I expect to accomplish in my 30s you ask?? I am not to sure. For now i am taking it one day at a time. More kids? Work or stay home? Move? Change jobs? These are all questions that only time can answer. As much as I would some days like time to stand still so I can fully enjoy Grady's childhood, others I am just to excited to see what the next 10 years have in store for my little family!
So far, 30 is not that bad and to be honest I am enjoying saying I am in my early thirties rather than my late 20s. Just makes me feel younger beleive it or not!

Pictures from the Weekend
Deena is so quick! She posted a few pics on FB so in true Christy-fashion, I swiped them from her! Thanks Dee! She has a great camera not to mention she takes a mean picture! So happy she got some great shots of our little men together. They may have not wanted to share all the time, there may have been tears, Grady may have been called Karter all weekend, but I really do think they had a great time playing together. I think the pictures tell it all!
Our bare-chested little men - Willis and Grady!
PJ butts looking out the window just his morning before the gang left. Not really sure what they are looking at... Grady is probably copying his big buddy.
Here they are sitting on the swing in our backyard shortly after the above photo was taken. Best of buds!
I love this photo! It looks like a professional photo! I don't even know when she took this shot but it must have been this morning since he is wearing the same PJs!!
The post wouldn't be complete without at least one picture of our weekend trio! Here is Deena, Candace, and I before heading out for the day on Saturday morning. I think this picture says so much about the kind of friendship we have. It is an old friendship which is comfortable, trusting, honest, and everlasting. The looks on our faces tells it all......
Thanks again for a great weekend!

Birthday Weekend!
Note - I would like to point out that there are no pictures in this post. I did not take any. Rather... I relied on Deena to use her Daddy-cam to get great shots that I will later swipe from her! (hint hint Deena).
My 2 friends Deena (and Dan and Willis) and Candace came for a bday visit arriving Thursday and Friday respectively. It was such a great treat! A fun filled weekend of beer, shopping, beer, spa, and dress shopping! It was a lot jammed into 2 days but did we ever have fun!
Friday was a lazy day sitting in the sun in the yard watching the boys play while the ladies sipped on a few bevies. I would like to point out how times have changed. No longer do we drink our beers in the evening like regular people. We resort to drinking then in the afternoon as not to risk falling asleep before drinking the bevies in the evenings. Works great for me..... there is nothing like a cold beer and clam while sitting in the sun! Now that is a great summer treat!
Saturday, we started the day with wedding dress shopping for Candace who is planning a wedding for June 2010. This was her first time in a wedding dress and she looked great! We found a dress that was perfect for her and now the question is 'is it the one?'. I guess we will have to wait and see.....
Next, Grady (with a little help from Dad) schemed with Can and Deena to plan a surprise spa getaway in the early afternoon. All 3 of us had massages and great rain shower afterwards (separately of course). For those of you that aren't familiar, it is a shower where the water falls direclty from above like rain. It was fantastic!
We were all rested up and headed to the mall for some late afternoon shopping where they spoiled me with a new outfit from H&M... thanks ladies!
I hate to admit it but we were gone for a full 6 hours and it was great! Girl time was exactly what I needed to make me forget about my responsibilities at home and just enjoy myself. I had such a nice weekend I was sad to see them leave.
Now back to reality. Today we are heading to the mall and then to Nana's for a combined bday supper for Uncle Dave and I who celebrate our bdays just 1 day apart! I think after today I will have to stop celebrating my bday.... but if Grady can celebrate his bday for a week so can I - I did turn thirty after all!!
