My First Fancy Tree

This year's decorating proved to be extra exciting because it is was first Christmas in our new home. Dare I admit that almost immediately after moving in I started thinking about where our Christmas tree would go??

But, we had a dilemma.

James initial thought was that it had to go in the living room at the front of the house right in front of the window.  My instinct was to put it in the family room like we did in the old house.  It is the room we spend all our time in.  What is the point of having a tree if you never see it?

I had a general sense of where I wanted to put the tree in the family room.  I essentially wanted to move out our end table and replace it with the tree.  Easy right?  Except for the fact that I was almost 100% sure our tree was to wide for the spot.

I found a slim tree on Costco.ca (that is apparently now sold out since I can't find the link) and pondered it for weeks. With only 5 days before our designated tree set up day I pulled the trigger and ordered the slim tree that I hoped would fit perfectly in the designated corner.  A mere 2 days later it arrived on my doorstep by the UPS guy, my new friend.

Jasmin said that our friendly UPS guy asked her if we intended to keep the tree.  A sly remark after I returned 3 carpets in the first 6 months we've lived here.  I also noted that he now has a a helper.  I hope that my UPS friend hasn't injured himself carrying all my 'heavy' purchases.....

Since we had a new tree for the family room, it meant that our old tree could sit in front of the front window like James wanted.

While James the kids helped me with our memory tree, this tree was all mine.  I scoured Pinterest looking for idea on how to decorate my new, or should I say old, tree.

It became obvious that all the decor that I liked were natural.  Browns, white, and burlap.  With that my theme was set.  I threw in a little Christy blue and I had the perfect tree.  After spending nearly as much on decorations as I did on the tree, it was complete.  Absolutely perfect.  Even the kids told me it was beautiful.

Looking from the entrance into the living room.
I just love it.  The ribbon, the lights, the location.  Everything.  I am so glad that I took the plunge on the second tree.

Taking a closer look.... I worked hard at the ribbon.  Though I didn't get it perfect, I got better the more I wrapped.  I initially bought 25 feet for my 7.5 foot tree.  Google told me I way underestimated the amount and told me I needed 80- 100 feet.  In the end I used about 75 feet and have one roll to spare.

And another...  I especially love the white snow flakes.  It was a common thread in all the trees I liked on Pinterest.

Here is a close up of each of the 4 ornaments I chose.  Along with a pack of 12 each of blue and white sparkle balls as filler.  Who knew tree ornaments were so pricey!  I bought them all at Canadian tire for what I thought was a reasonable price at $2-$4 per ornament.

If you are contemplating a second tree, just do it!  It has added so much festivity to the front of our house.  It has quickly become my favorite place to drink my baileys and hot chocolate and read.  I started the weekend still looking for my festive spirit but I think it is safe to say that setting up the trees has helped me find it!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....!

I was not feeling festive.

I have been doing all the shopping, all the wrapping, all the planning, but the festive feeling was just missing.  I had penciled in decorating for Christmas for this past Saturday so that is what we did.  I must admit that I wasn't looking forward to it at all, until we started to pull out the boxes.  All it took was opening one box of ornaments and seeing how excited Grady was to get me feeling festive in a matter of seconds.

This kid.....

He enjoys decorating the tree almost as much as I do.  He couldn't wait to empty all the boxes and reminding my of all the memories that were associated with each one.  He was my main elf that day.

Cooper on the other hand....

He wore the hat and the smile but other than hanging a few ornaments and telling me he didn't like my Christmas music, he wasn't that into it.

Grady decorated the tree with me right until the end and then continued to empty the boxes and place all the decor out on every clear edge he could find.  I of course came around after him moving them to more appropriate places.

I just love how the tree turned out.  It is by far my favorite part of Christmas and my most anticipated tradition associated with the holidays.  Taking it down, not so much.

Every year since the boys were born I've bought them an ornament that represents their year.  Truthfully I should have bought a poop emoji ornament but I didn't think of it on time....  Instead, he got a goalie, which of course he loved.  I got the side eye form James as we are supposed to be discouraging the whole goalie thing but whatevs, Gray liked it!

Of course he placed it right next to his Calgary Flames hockey goalie that he literally stole off my Mom's tree one Christmas.  Do your kids lump all their decorations on the tree like mine do?

For Cooper I chose these skates.  We are certainly a hockey family and it only seemed suitable that we have a pair of hockey skates on our tree.

This year I also got an ornament for myself.  I actually had forgotten all about it until I unwrapped it in one of the Christmas bins.  It is a moose in a yellow rain poncho purchased on my trip to Toronto in the spring to meet the ladies of the blended blog face to face.  Such good memories!

In addition to the above, it wouldn't be proper to not recognize our first Christmas in our new home.  I was so excited when I saw this personalized ornament in Banff when I bought the hockey ornaments.  My mom got me a new home ornament when we moved into our blue corner house and it seemed only proper to celebrate this home with a new ornament.

What I love most about this ornament is the fact that our actual door has our house number painted on it as well.  It is just perfect!

After the house was fully decorated 4 hours later I enjoyed a baileys and hot chocolate and read my book in front of our new SECOND tree in the living room.

Stay tuned for a post later this week with details on how we ended up with a second tree and how we I decorated it!

My thoughts on.... Staying Fit

I'm having a busy week. No busier than any other week but I've been filling my evenings with important things like buying new Christmas ornaments for our sencond tree.... So, I found this post in my drafts that I send to Deena in September of 2015 which I assume she posted on her blog.  I don't actually remember, but I'm pretty sure I didn't post it here.  So here it is 2 years later and I still feel the same way.

***************************************************************

Before kids, exercising was easy.  I had the time and I didn't need to find childcare to make it to the gym.  After I had kids, finding excuses became easy as I had such little free time and the last place I wanted to be was the gym.  However, fitness has been a priority in my life since I lost 75 pounds in my late teens and kept it off for almost 20 years.  So although it wasn't always easy to be active, I worked hard to make it an important part of my life.  I think I am a better person, mother, wife, and friend because of it.

I've come up with a few ideas on how you can work extra activity into your typical day as well.

{one } Choose a time when you don't have to worry about childcare.  Personally, I go the gym over my lunch hour at work since I am a working parent.  That way when I get home from work I don't have to squeeze it into my already busy schedule.  I have 2 boys in hockey after all....  Some other ideas include when the kids are in school, after the kids go to bed, or getting a membership where there is a good childcare facility.

I think it is also important to recognize that the optimal time for exercise may change as your family's schedule changes.  Before kids I was a morning exerciser, but after kids I needed every extra second of shut eye so I adjusted my schedule accordingly.  I tried exercising after the kids went to bed but I was too tired and was finding many excuses to skip it, that is when I adjusted to lunch exercising and I find it is the best time of day energy wise for me.

{two} Put it in your schedule.  If you do this, you'll plan around your exercise schedule.  If someone asks you for coffee or dinner and you have it in your calendar to exercise you can suggest an alternate date.  I currently have a personal trainer and we meet every Wednesday and Friday over lunch, I also signed up for lunch hour yoga on Thursdays.  So if I want to go for lunch, I do not plan it on those days.

{three} Find something you like.  For years, I only did cardio.  I ran on the treadmill or went on the stepper every single time.  About 18 months ago I tried my first group exercise and LOVED it.  I really regret not trying it sooner.  Right now I love Barre and Spin. It doesn't feel like a chore to go at all.  I look forward to it.  Going back to point 3, I have it in my schedule that my hubby and I go to spin every Monday night.  Yes, sometimes life gets in the way, but then we try to reschedule.

Best cardio ever!
{Four}  Change it up. When I first started exercising, I only did step aerobic, years and years of step aerobics.  Then when I moved into an apartment I switched to running on the treadmill and stayed with that for years.  In the past 18 months, I've tried so many group exercises I've lost count.  I've incorporated free weights into my workout and I feel so much stronger.  The more things you try, the higher the chance you'll find something you love.

{five}  Join a gym.  I have been exercising almost daily since I was 17, I joined my first real gym this year and wish I would have done it so much sooner.  I was very intimidated by the gym as I had only worked out at home or at my office gym.  I thought everyone at the real gym would be fit and in better shape than me.  I was wrong.  Yes, the gym is intimidating the first time you go but once you get in your own routine it is so worth it.  The number of classes and different equipment that you have at your disposable is crazy compared to at home where it is very limited. The variety keeps your workouts interesting and challenging.

{six} Find a gym buddy.  Not only does having a buddy make it more fun, but it also keeps you accountable.  I have a gym buddy at work that checks in with me every day to see what class we are doing that day at lunch.  I have not been to the mall over lunch since I joined the gym in June, almost 4 months ago.  That is music to my hubby's ears I am sure.

My fave exercise buddy is my Mom.  She is WAY stronger than me.
I also have a friend that instead of going for dinner or out for drinks, we go for a walk.  Our walk can sometimes be well over an hour depending on how much we have to catch up on.  We have been doing this for over 10 years and it is a highlight of my month.  While we used to go every week pre husbands and kids, we now go at least once a month.  We've had to adjust the frequency but the important part is that we've kept it up.

{seven} Set attainable goals.  When you start a new exercise program, don't set an unrealistic goals, set something that you can actually do.  After my kids were born, I set my goal at exercising 3 times a week.  That seemed attainable to me.  While I would have liked to exercise more, I knew that I would be setting myself up for failure.   This is also true when it comes to food.  Don't tell yourself you are going to stop eating gluten, instead commit to removing gluten from a certain meal a day.  Set yourself up for success!

{eight} Buy new exercise wear.  When I was reading these tips to my hubby he didn't understand this one and I had to explain it to him.  If you have exercise wear you like and feel good in, you are more likely to wear it and exercise.  Also, you can set a goal and reward yourself with new workout wear.  For example, if you exercise 3 times a week for a month you buy yourself a new exercise top, or entire outfit.  This is my personal favorite tip and one I stand by .  Some of my favorite brands are lululemon, onzie, zella, and believe it or not, Forever 21.

Perfect bra and top for Hot Barre.
{nine}  Make lifestyle changes.  There are so many fad diets out there these days and yes they may make you lose weight quickly, but the odds are high you will revert back to your old ways post diet as they are too extreme to continue. Make food and exercise choices that you can maintain in the long run.  For me, I am more likely to reduce my sugar intake long term than I am to eliminate it.  That just ain't gonna happen.

{ten} Think strong instead of skinny.  For years I just wanted to be skinny, I was thin and but not strong.  My new goal is be strong.  I may weigh more, but I have more muscle and feel fit.  Or so that is the goal.  I need to be strong to lift those hockey bags into the van and to get all the groceries in the house in one trip.  Just because one is skinny does not mean that they are in shape.  I want to be healthy and to be able to keep up with my kids which is always a challenge.  Where do kids get the energy??

I hope that you have taken away at least one tip that will help you be more active in your everyday life.  Life is busy, full of commitments from work, kids, and other obligations, but we owe it to ourselves to make our health a priority.  Sometimes we fall off the wagon, and that is perfectly fine, as long we always find the strength to get back on.

A Hockey Mom Moment

Let me just tell you a little about a typical Saturday morning with 2 boys in hockey.  This particular Saturday, we had 2 early morning practices.  One was at 6:45am and the other 7:15am.  James happened to be going to the airport for a 9:30am flight so he dropped Grady off at the rink on the way and I arranged for him to go home with another player and we would meet them at team photos later that morning.

Cooper and I got on the road shortly after 6:30am to go to his practice for 7:15.  So far so good, this morning with 2 practices and 2 team pictures while parenting solo was off to a good start.

Well, that wouldn't last long.

After practice we only had just over an hour before we had to be at pictures which was closer to where practice was then it was to our house so Cooper and I decided to do a pit stop at Tim Hortons which we often do after early practices.  We pull up at Tim Hortons and this is when I realize I have no wallet.

Because I am the manager of Coopers team I usually bring a big bag with the binder and my bell.  I forgot to throw my wallet in.  This isn't the first time this has happened, but usually James is my Pan B.

No big deal, I have an emergency $20 bill in the van.  Lack of coffee and donuts in clearly an emergency so we'll just use that.  We go in have our little breakfast and make our way to pictures to find Grady.

We find him.  He is not happy.

Grady was upset with me that he had to get dressed on his own.  I should have known better than to book the pictures so close together he told me angrily. Since Cooper is younger, and I am the team manager, I had to get them all in line and make sure they were holding this specific piece of paper before photos.  By this time Grady is done and geared down and I've given him my phone so he would stop pouting.

Then he asks me when he can buy his hat.....  sh*t.

How am I going to explain to this kid that I promised back in August when we lost his last hockey hat that I forgot my wallet.  Think, Christy, think.  If I don't buy it today, it will take at least 6 weeks to order.  Double sh*t.

Got it.  I'm going to ask one of the other Moms on my team to borrow some cash.  I'll just repay them tomorrow.  That way the kids get their hats and I don't have to drive all the way home then drive back.

Remember that these teams are new and I only know a handful of them well enough to ask to borrow money without sounding ridiculous.  Thankfully I am the manager that increases my credibility... right?

I ask a mom if I can borrow $50 to buy the kids hat, explaining that I forgot my wallet and we haven't been home since before practice.  She immediately says without hesitation that she doesn't have any cash but that I should just take her Visa and she'll text me the pin.  I tried to say that it was fine and not to worry about it but she kept on insisting so I felt like it was easier to just take it. I did need some means of payment after all.  She texts me her pin and she is on her way and we are off to buy our hats.

For the record, I did ask if they had tap since then I could have used Apple pay, but they didn't.  It would have been so much easier if they just had tap...

The kids each chose a hat and we go to pay.  I tried to memorize the pin so I didn't look like a thief as I checked my text for the pin.  I keyed it in and it was denied.  Sh*t.  I look at my phone and key it in slowly and was denied again.  Double sh*t.  At this point I'm starting to sweat as I look around for anyone that could help me out.

The mom behind me is on our team and I know her a little.  Well enough to ask her to borrow $63?  Probably not, but I did anyway.  After a quick explanation she laughed and paid for my hats and her own.

How embarrassing.

We finally make our way back to the car wearing our new hats.

As we climb in the car I noticed 3 missed calls and a text from the mom apologizing over and over that she gave me the wrong pin. Yeah, I noticed.

It has been an ongoing joke this season and we've since become friends.

All this and home before noon.  Just another typical morning as a hockey Mom.

five on friday

{one} Reading:  i just finished the Alice Network for book club.  People are raving about this book.  I thought it was okay giving it only 3 stars.  I went back and forth between wanting to read it and not really caring.  I did finish it though which is saying something since I have no issues just putting a book down.  Last night I started How to Grow an Addict on the recommendation of a friend who said it was one of her favorite books.  I'm on page a whopping page 20 and really liking it. With less than 300 pages in the book I have no doubt I'll whip through this one.

{two} Watching: I've been watching Downton Abbey while running on the treadmill for a few months and I am finally starting to enjoy it.  I love their outfits and the accents.  I've just started Series 3, as the British say, and look forward to watching each episode.  My only complaint is that that episodes are 55 minutes which means I don't have time to watch a full episode over lunch on the treadmill which means I have 10 minutes to finish each night...

{three} Doing:  I am back to doing Lagree more regularly.  I fell off the Lagree wagon when I started doing my long runs on Sundays in the spring.  Between running and spin, there just didn't seem to be enough time to add in any more fitness classes.  Now that running is on the back burner I have been back at Lagree being tortured on that reformer machine.  I am sore for at least 3 days after each workout.  Grady has started asking me why I go it it hurts so much, but I am one of those sick people that loves that feeling.  I love knowing I worked a muscle to exhaustion.  I just wish I would see more results....
{four} Eating: Pizza!  I love me some pizza!  For as many years as I can remember James and I have ordered pizza every week.  It isn't a set day but it always on the weekend.  This pre-dates Grady and I remember that the first night home from the hospital after each kid we ordered Spiros pizza.  It is a local Greek pizza place that serves deep dish pizza with lots of cheese.  My fave!  most recently James and I have found a new favorite at Boston Pizza, the Viva Italia.  Warning, it's spicy!  We eat in the restaurant a lot and this has been our go to.  Now, we occasionally order from there instead.  I could seriously eat pizza every day.

{five} Drinking:  I've brough out the baileys and hot chocolate for the season!  The snow is here and looks like it is staying.  With the snow comes some wind and cold weather, what better to warm up then with a mug of steaming hot hot chocolate with mostly baileys.  Yummmmmmy!  Now I just have to get my tree up....

Have a great weekend!

A Letter to my UPS Guy

Dear UPS guy,

It was such a pleasure to meet you last week.  I saw you run up the steps and leave something behind.  Lately I've been ordering a lot on line so I rushed to the door to see what goody you had left me.  I didn't expect to see you when I opened the door to retrieve my purchase, but there you were carrying 2 more boxes up the steps.

It turned out that my Christmas cards arrived COD.  Darn Shutterfly, first they charge me in USD, then they want more cash on delivery?  A rant for another day...

You asked if I was Christy and I replied yes.  You have met Jasmin, my nanny, many times over the past few months as she mans the house while we are away at work.  Imagine your surprise when I swung open the door instead!

As you pulled out your visa machine I asked if you were always the UPS person on this route and you looked up and said yes.  I suddenly flashed back over the past 6 months and how many things I've ordered on line from Wayfair and most recently Amazon Prime.

I hesitantly asked you if you have delivered all my packages over the past months.

You looked up with a smirk and told me that I order very heavy things.  He glances over at the 70 pound hockey net that he literally just placed on my step.

On the bright side, it help yous stay fit.... right?

I run through my online binge after moving in and remember all the rugs that I ordered and I also remember that I sent all but 2 of the giant rugs back.  Which means that you had to deliver my rugs and pick them up to take them back.  Sorry friend.

On the bright side, I don't have a dog that barks and I live on a quiet street.  I realize that you are one of my favorite people, but I am probably not one of yours.  Do you ever wonder what are in my boxes that get delivered almost every other day?  I promise they are not elaborate.  I even told you that it is all amazon prime faults and you told me that your wife has started shopping the same way.

If I can buy it online, why would I go to the store?

Besides, my online shopping is keeping you employed.  I will also add you to my Christmas list since I've made you work so hard this year.

My promise to you is that I will try and bunch all my Amazon purchases in one order rather than ordering 3 separate times in one day because I now know that if I order together that they will come in one box.  You won't need to make as many trips to the door and I won't have to deal with so much recycling.  The struggle is real.

UPS guy, I am so happy to have met you and I hope over the next year we become the best of friends!

Your new friend,
Christy

Celebrating Cooper

Our third and final post about Cooper's birthday week is dedicated to how we celebrated Cooper's birthday with his friends.  This kid is all boy, and we had the boy-est of parties lined up... a nerf fun party.  This wasn't his first choice.  He really wanted the gaming truck that Grady had when he turned eight.  I convinced him to wait one more year to make sure all his friends enjoyed video games so he decided he wanted the science guy to come to our house.  That is worse than the gaming truck.  You want me to host 16 6 year old boys in our new house? No thanks.  So I suggested Battlefield Live where all your friends can run wild and not wreck our house.  He agreed.

For the cost of the party, I expected more.  We walk in and it is essentially a deserted Home Outfitters store.  The store vacated and left all their signage and shelving units behind.  Battlefield acres then used said leftovers to make a hiding spots for what is essentially child paintball.

From a business perspective it is brilliant.  They charge an arm and a leg for a bunch of kids (and adults!) to come and run around and destroy a deserted warehouse.

They added the odd plant, lighting, and sand bag for ambiance but that is about it.  Talk about cheap decorating.  The lights are dimmed anyway so you can't see how bad the decor really is.

Despite the decor, the kids had a blast.  I couldn't get them to stand still long enough to take a photo of them.  Most of my pictures look like a blur of a boy with a gun running by.  Can you tell how well the safety goggles are protecting Coopers eyes in the photo below??  Oy.

I did make them pose for a picture at the end, including the biggest kid that also participated in the festivities while Nana and I watched from the sidelines.

This year we had A&W burgers since the newest 7 year old does not like pizza apparently.   Look at the sweaty hair and the big smile.

As always, Cooper's nerf gun cake was made by love with Nana. Not only does it look good, it tastes delicious.

Cooper had one sttubborn candle that would not go out despite multipe attepts.

There were so many laughs by all as they asked Cooper who his girlfriend was.  For the record we still don't know!

As we were leaving the party place Cooper asked when we got to go back.  I'm calling the party a success!

Happy Birthday Cooper!

Happy 7th Birthday Cooper

Dear Cooper,

As I write this, the day before you turn 7, you are snuggled into bed with your favorite bunny, in your underwear, on top of your blankets.  You are my easy one to put to sleep.  We read a few books, have a quick snuggle, and the lights go out.  This year you are reading me the the stories.  Our best conversations are at bed time.  We talk about your day, you sometimes ask about mine.  While part of me knows that you are just procrastinating going to sleep that other part of me loves our connection at night.  No distractions, no TV, no video games.  Just you and me.  You have grown up so much this year.  From reading, to writing, to addition and subtraction you are taking so much in right now.  Will you use all this knowledge to be an accountant? A teacher? or a lawyer?  I can't wait to find out.  Cooper, each year with you gets better and better.

Let me tell you a little bit about your 7 year old self.

- You are in Grade 1.  You were so ready for full day school you didn't even bat an eye.  You are learning to read and are the teachers most reliable helper.  You are a listener and responsible in the classroom.  Or so your teacher tells me.  You are lucky to have your 2 best friends Nick and Levi in your class.  You couldn't be happier.

- You are only in grade 1 but eager to learn.  Math seems to be the subject of choice.  While your classmates work on addition, you have moved on the subtraction, multiplication and even simple - division.  Nothing makes this accountant more happy!

- You are in your first year of Novice in Hockey.  You've already played net and loved it (yikes!).  You are learning positions, offside, and icing. Don't worry buddy, I'm still working on it to!  Ha!  You made division 3 this year which is quite an accomplishment for your first year of Novice.  You have only a few repeat players on your team so are busy make new friends which comes easy to you.

-You don't flush the toilet and you often pee on the seat.  When you go to the bathroom at night you always leave the light on.

- You also love to watch YouTube videos.  So does your Dad and I just don't get it.  The favorite right now seems to be try not to laugh where people make a bunch of dumb video and post them randomly on the same station.  I must admit even I laugh at some of them.

-You are still a fan of Dan TDM.  He is a guy in his early 20s that dictates video games.  I always recognize him because he has an english accent.  I think he is part of the reason you often say you want to be a you tuber when you grow up.

-You still love stuffies.  You don't play with them, you just seem to want to collect them.  Beanie Boos are at the top of the list and you asked for a giant unicorn for your birthday this year.  I guess we'll have to wait and see if you got one....

-Bunny is still your favorite.  You won't go to sleep until bunny is tucked under your arm.  When I check on you before bed you are often hugging bunny tightly.  I love that you love bunny so much but I wish you would hug me like that.

-You are our good sleeper.  We head up around 8:30 and by the time I lay with Grady you are asleep.  You don't mess around.  You also sleep later than Grady.  I bet if your brother would sleep in more you would would sleep even later!

-You are finally starting to snuggle a little.  You used to tell me to get on my own pillow when I tried to snuggle with you but now you just accept it and don't complain.  I wasn't a hugger when I was little either.

-You really like Jam sandwiches (blueberry) and bring them for lunch almost every day.  Your second choice would be popcorn chicken.  You claim you hate pizza but eat it if that is all there is.

-You are the cool younger brother.  You can keep up to the big kids and they accept you as one of them. Now that Grady is at a different school you play with his friends at recess.  You are a social butterfly.

-Your language is not great.  I am the first to admit that James and I don't limit our own swearing, James in particular, but it wasn't an issue for Grady. You on the other hand test the limits often and often are sent to your room for your choice in words.  Like the time you yelled out Duck with an F.  Thank you Cooper now we all know you can spell...

-This past spring you played soccer.  You seem to like baseball more and more. It will be interesting to see what sport you choose to play this spring.

-Your sense of humor is on point.  You can make people laugh just by making funny faces.

- I wish I had your eye lashes.  Just last night when we took you for a much needed haircut even the hairdresser commented on them.

Cooper, it is such a privilege to be your mom.  You are the son that people say look like me and I am honored each time I hear it.  I may be biased, but I think you are pretty darn adorable. Keeping being you because I love the boy that you are becoming.  Maybe less the language!

Love,
Mom

Coopers Birthday Interview - Age 7

Today is Cooper's last day being 6.  Wow.  So in honor of his birthday he happily sat down with me to complete his annual questionaire.  He liked it so much that even when I was through asking questions he wanted more.  As always, my comments are in italics.

What is your favorite color?   Pink. Really?  I don't think it is.  We'll laugh at this response next year.

What is your favorite day of the week?  Friday because it is a half day at school.  Kind of like how Monday is my favorite day.

What are you looking forward to this year?  To make Novice 2.

Favorite Sport?  Baseball and hockey.

A food I don't like is? Peas, no I've never tried them.  Bacon. Salmon, no pizza.

I love how much enthusiasm he had for answering the questions. I love how the boys humor me once year with these questionnaires.  I just know I will enjoy reading them back in years to come.

Month in Numbers: October 2017

When I went through my pictures for October, I had tons of pictures of our company this month and Halloween of course, but nothing else.  Apparently October was so busy that I didn't have time to take any photos.... So lets see what I did have on my phone this month.

2: lousy boxes left to unpack
4: days until I have James committed to look for side boards so I can finally unpack them
80: percent chance he'll hate what I picked out

2: new chairs ordered and delivered
1: lopsided chair that needed to be repaired
1: stupid customer service rep that wanted to replace the chair rather than just send a repairman
5: minutes later I convinced her that yes I would send a picture of the problem even though you would not be able to tell that it was uneven in a picture.

2: sets of parent teacher interviews
2: good reports
1: proud big brother gave his little brother a tour of his new school

1: Arcade Fire concert attended
1: shirt borrowed
2: songs recognized
18: songs later and I got to go home after James made me walk 20 minutes back to the car....

1: happy goalie
3: periods and 1 practice of goal tending fun
1: heart and hustle award won!

8: black nails
2: sparkly silver nails
7 days later and they were all falling off
10: nails to be applied and painted today. I'm done with shellac, I'm getting a whole new set!

4: months this little pumpkin turned
8: screen shots taken on snapchat, could easily have taken one of all of them she is so cute!

13: kids and 4 coaches showed up in fave jerseys and costumes for a Halloween skate.
1: Pittsburgh jersey and yellow tie worn by cooper

2:rugs arrived, same rug different sizes
1: rug kept, the bigger one
2: kids that suggested we leave the furniture OFF the rug.

3: boys in best buy
1: Mom took off to Winners and left them behind at the electronics store.

3: window view from my sink.  I'm still getting used to my winder view.

10: Bob books from Aunty Blaire and Kolby (best learning books ever!)
3: times each one has been read.

12: skates for Cooper
14: skates for Grady
1: Tournament
8: games total
3: losses.  All by Cooper's team

Until November......
