Pinspired - June

Since June 1st falls on the weekend, I am linking up with the ladies today to show you my pinspired outfit.  This is my pinspiration this month.  A gingham shirt and jeans.

In all the fashion blogs that I follow I noticed that these shirts seem to be appearing everywhere.  I blogged about the purchase of my shirt below almost 2 years ago.  I personally find them very 'western' and bought them for $10 each for stampede.  When I saw people wearing these if every day life I jumped on it given I had 2 shirts already and it didn't cost me a cent!  I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

I ditched the colored cardi as personally I hate wearing a cardigan over long sleeves and instead added a statement necklace in true Christy fashion!

I texted this goofy picture to Dee a few weeks back to show her my outfit choice for the day.  Same idea, different color.  I actually can't decide which pairing I like better.

Today, I am sporting the look with white jeans.  While I didn't have a chance to snap a picture before leaving, you get the idea.

This next picture seems right up my alley by ditching the statement necklace and adding the statement colored denim.  I need to find a navy shirt to accomplish this.

Did you notice that all the pinned outfits are with navy shirts. I will be on the look out for a navy one next. Who knows, maybe I'll find another one for $10! So far I am loving the look for spring. Spring in my neck of the woods has been cold, so I love that you can accomplish that springy feeling and still stay warm.

Happy Friday!

My Favorite Things

Today for something different, I'm going to go through a few of my favorite essentials that you may or may not already know about.  I'm not saying they are the best for everyone, but they have been great for me.  So let's get started!

Dove Dry Shampoo

If you have not already been introduced to dry shampoo, get your butt to the store and buy it.  This particular one is one I use regularly and costs you about $5.  Although I am not picky, I use other brands as well.  I went from washing my hair every day before I had kids to washing it twice a week currently. Once on the weekend, and once on Wednesday.  It sounds gross I know, but with the use of this baby, I can stretch out my hair washing and go 4 days if I have to.  I wash and wear the first day, the second day I style as usual and the 3rd and 4th day I apply the shampoo to the roots down my part and around my face, put my fancy shower cap on and shower.  Works like a charm.  For real.  If you decide to try one thing from the post, make it the dry shampoo.

Nars Orgasm-Laguna Blush Bronzer Duo
I am a new user of this blush duo and I love both colors.  I pick depending on what I am wearing or my mood.  I think my favorite is still the brown.  The pink scares me just a little.  I have to remind myself to now put too much on the brush.  There has been the odd time that I've had to take some off because I look like a clown.  I've learned my lesson now.

Nars Lip Pencils
Hands down my favorite lipstick.  with that being said, I've owned very few lipsticks.  I have 3 colors, a light pink, a neutral, and a purple.  Love them!  They stay on.  Even after I drink from my water bottle or have lunch.  I've never been much of a lipstick girl until I tried these and now I want to collect all the colors!  Eventually I am going to buy the color on the far right. I have to ease in though....

Merle Norman Brow Sealer
This brow sealer is great for my eyebrows that are thin and grow down.  It darkens them up and holds them in place.  It is quite a drastic difference but if you want darker brows this sealer will be your friend.  I have several Merle Norman products since I get my eye brows waxed there.  About a year ago, I got my makeup done by a girl there and ended up buying many of the products.  Some I have switched but some I have really liked.  Like this one.

Merle Normal Liquid Foundation and Ultra Buff Powder
When I got my makeup done at Merle Norman they used these 2 products on me and they work really well if you are looking for a full coverage look.  I have freckles and I have a pink undertone so I like to cover all that up.  When I work I use these 2 products to help me hide the imperfections.  With that being said, I am currently finishing up my clinique primer and am looking for a different one to try.  Any suggestions?

Aveda Dual Foundation

If I were stuck on a deserted island and I could only pack 2 items to bring with me, I would bring my dry shampoo and this dual foundation.  It goes on like a powder but the coverage is great!  While I wear a full liquid foundation and powder to work and out in the evening, I prefer something I can do a little faster on my days home with the kids.  I have been using this for years and love it. It takes approximately 15 seconds to apply, a pop of blush and lipstick and I am ready in less than 2 minutes.

Amway Body Wash

?My mom sold Amway for year while I was growing up and still uses many Amway products to this day.  My personal favorite is this body wash.  I love how big the bottle is and that it has a pump.  I love how sudsy it gets and how it smells.  I took a break from it but found my self returning to this familiar smell that reminds me of back home.  That and they ship directly to my door :)

Lid Care

I have been using these babies for about a year.  I have dry eyes and the eye doctor said that this will take the oils out of my eyes.  You can actually rub your eye ball with them, not that I recommend that, and that your eye will be fine.  It takes all my makeup off in 2 seconds flat.  It is sold in the pharmacy area and sometimes it is behind the counter.  Don't ask me why.

Facial Wipes

As you can tell, my face washing is pretty simple, no expensive creams or face washes, just lid care and facial wipes.  I do use a cream but nothing I am faithful about using.  My skin is pretty normal and seems to do just fine with my simple regime.  I switched to facial wipes since I found more and more I was skipping washing my face.  The wipes are so easy that I find it hard to not wash my face each night.  I switched to the Costco ones because the value is so much better.

So there you have it.  I am no expert but these are some of the products that I find myself buying time and time again.  Do you have any that you just couldn't live without?

Weekend Recap

Like any other weekend, this one was a busy one!  Grandma surprised us by arriving at our house unexpected on Friday night as we were getting ready to go our.  We were expecting her on Saturday, but a little change in plans brought her to us a little earlier than expected.  Grady kept asking me why I told him Grandma wasn't coming until tomorrow and Cooper kept telling James over and over that Grandma was here even though he was standing right there when she arrived.

The 5 of left to drop the van off for servicing then hit up our favorite ice cream place called My Favorite Ice Cream Shoppe.

Saturday had us at the soccer field all morning.  We were all a little over dressed since the past 2 weekends were so cold, but we tried not to complain as it was so much better to watch in the sun!

Grady is standing to the left of Coach John
Saturday afternoon had James and I picking up the van and going for groceries while the other 3 watched 2 movies!  I guess the morning of soccer tired them out.

Saturday night Mom and I dressed up all pretty to go and see Theater Calgary's production of Mary Poppins.  Loved it!

I can't remember if I blogged about this, but Nana got 2 tickets to Mary Poppins from her neighbor and asked Grady to be her date.  So Grady actually went to the show already.  As I was watching all 2 hours and 40 minutes of the show I couldn't believe that Grady had sat through the whole thing but at the same time could see how he would be mesmerized by it.

In preparing Grady for the show was started listening to lots of Mary Poppins tunes and I suddenly wanted to go to.  I grabbed the last 2 seats together for Saturday nights performance. I was a little worried about what the seat would be like since they were upper balcony and a few rows from the back but there really isn't a bad seat in there.  In was a fantastic show!

We had a late night and then an early morning.  I set the alarm for 6:30 as Mom and I were running in the Shoppers Run for Woman.

Just before the race
The weather was perfect and so was the company.  It is such a great feeling doing a run with other people.  It is all women and the pace is very casual.  Some people walk the whole thing, even the 10k.  We did the 5k this year but are thinking we should challenge the 10k next year.  If you've never done a run before, this is a great first one!

My favorite part was James and the boys showing up just as we were lining up to start.  They both were so happy to see us.  As we ran by them we noticed they had signs made up that said 'Go Grandma' and 'Go Mom'.  Seeing my 3 boys cheering us on may have been my favorite part of the weekend.

From the run, we went home, changed, had lunch, and spent the afternoon at the rink like usual.  I think Grandma was pretty impressed with our rising skating/hockey stars!

Cooper is in the red jersey
It amazes me every time Grady gets off the ice how sweaty he is. Seriously, it is like he just took a bath!

We finished off the weekend with supper in the family room watching Mary Poppins the movie.

Grady, Grandma, and I talked so much about Mary Poppins and Cooper was upset he didn't see so we suggested the movie.  It was way longer than I thought.  It kept the kids interests for a bit but in the end we didn't finish it, they kids had to go to bed

Not before we snapped a few goofy pics of Grandma and the boys.  We had a funny face competition.

I was missing my Mom.  I didn't realize it until she arrived.  There is just something about when my mom comes to visit and she gets a glimpse into our everyday life.    She gets an in depth visit with the boys and we spend time doing silly things.   She left first thing this morning so the kids didn't see her today.  When Grady woke up he asked me where Grandma was and I told him she had left already.  Even though we told him this last night, he was sad.  And so was I.  After a great weekend, saying good bye is always hard.

Five on Friday

{one} I realized that I forgot to blog about our long weekend, which was fantastic by the way!  The forecast called for rain, and I can't say that I witnessed it rain once.   I didn't say it didn't rain, but it only rained at night or when I was indoors.  Mother nature is making me happier these days....   We were able to play soccer on Saturday morning, it was a little cooler than I would have liked at 9am but we survived.  I think the problem was that we were dressed for winter the week before and managed to stay warm, this week we down graded to spring jackets and it was probably a little premature.

{two}  Not only did we have soccer, but also skating/hockey.  Apparently our programs did not get the memo that it was the long weekend!  Which was fine by us as it kept the boys (and us) active all weekend!  This was a switch over week for Cooper so he moved up to unparented.  In his last session they passed him up to level 2 but of course we had already registered him in level 1.  They were able to move him up to level 2 on the first day.  Cooper was still the best kid in the class by far!  I wondered how some of the 4 years in Grady's winter hockey were such good skaters, well now I know it is probably because they have an older siblings.  All the trips the rink with Grady has sure made an impact on Cooper!

{three}  We headed to Lego Fest this weekend, like every other kid in town, to be creative and have some fun.  I was very skeptical at first.  The tickets were expensive and my kids aren't that into Lego.  But some friends invited us so we decided to run with it.  We were there over 4 hours!  I think it is safe to say we got our moneys worth.  James thinks we just could have played with Lego at home.  I don't think so.
{four}  Each year we buy season passes to Calaway park and last weekend was the opening weekend.  We decided to take a chance on Monday and head over there.  If it rained we figure it is kind of free so we'd just come home.  Rain, it did not.  We spent 6 long hours at Calaway park.  James didn't even pack a lunch as he figured we be home by then. Big mistake. Huge.  (From pretty woman if you didn't recognize it).  Grady went on his first adult ride, the big ship.  It started out well and ended in tears.  I wouldn't say he is a dare devil by any means but we did go on some rides we had never been on and that is a start.
{five}  After a busy weekend, I got a drink and a snack and tuned in for the Dancing with the Stars finale.  I am so happy that Max won his first Mirror Ball trophy.  He is one of my favorite professional dancers. With that being said, I wish that Amy Purdy could have won as well.  If you didn't know, she had her legs amputated below the knee when she was 19 from Meningitis and is not a paralympian snow boarder.  She was a beautiful dancer and so inspiring.  But they both couldn't win and everyone knows Amy's partner Derek Hough has more than enough Mirror Ball trophies on his mantel!

I had much more to say but alas, I am already at 5, so it will have to wait.

Have a great weekend!

Fresh Peanuts

Setting the scene - I am laying in bed with Grady just before lights out.

Me - Tomorrow when you wake up come and snuggle with me.

Grady - Why does Dad always want me to snuggle with him?

Me - Because you are so good at it.

Grady - Sometimes he smells.

Me - Like what?

Grady - Sweat.

Me - Oh.  Do I smell?

Grady - Yes, but you smell good..... like fresh peanuts.

Soccer - 2014

Spring soccer in Calgary sucks because it is still like winter here at 9am.

Now that that is out in the open I'll tell you little bit about our first day of soccer.  The first 2 were cancelled for snow.  Snow in May.  Seriously?  I was concerned that the third one was going to be cancelled for rain but the rain held out for the afternoon in the end and the game went on!  Here are the kids during warm up.

Notice that all the kids have tuques and mitts on.  My kids have on winter jackets under their jerseys.  It was darn cold.   But on the bright side, it was not snowing or raining and the game was not cancelled.  I don't know what I would have told poor Cooper who was so excited for his first team sport if the game was cancelled, again.

The kids are lucky to have Coach Dad and Coach John on their team.

Which team did the dads choose to coach this year now that the little brothers are playing you may be asking?  Both!  Our husbands signed up to coach both teams together.  It means so much to the boys to have their dad coaching and I am so proud of James (and John) for giving up their Saturday mornings for the spring to run around a bunch of little kids.  In all honestly, these two make a great coaching team, and don't tell anyone, but I think they actually enjoy it.

Coopers team is called the blueberry bandits.  The name was obviously chosen by the kids! For most of these kids, this was the first time they have ever played soccer and these kids rocked!  They listened and participated despite the frigid temperatures.

Cooper was a rockstar out there. I think all that mini stick playing is paying off!  He hustled for the ball and scored a few goals during the game.  He asked when he got to play again, so I would say that is a good sign!

During snack time, all the bandits gathered on one blanket to have a drink and quick snack before hitting the field again.

Cooper's soccer starts at 9am on Saturday mornings, we have a 20 minute break between the end of Coop's and the start of Grady's and we finally get to leave the field at noon.  You do the math, that is 2 hours and 40 minutes at the field every Saturday morning.  I sure hope it warms up soon!

Next up is Grady.  His team is called the Green Dinosaurs.  I would love to know what this boy is telling Grady.

While this is Grady's third year of playing outdoor soccer, we saw a huge improvement in him this year.   Our timid and shy Grady is somewhat aggressive on the field.  He runs for the ball and doesn't shy away at all.  He managed to score a few goals during his game as well.

I brought a few hockey sticks and a tennis ball for the kids to play with on the sidelines while they were watching their brothers play.  I asked these two cuties to look at the camera and smile for me and they actually listened.  I thought bringing the hockey gear was great as it kept the kids not playing soccer moving and hopefully warm.

I personally was chilled to the bone by the time we left.  While the weather warmed up substantially I couldn't take my tuque off.  Some of the parents at only the later session probably thought I was crazy!

Despite the weather, it was a very successful morning of soccer.  The kids had fun, the parents visited, the kids stayed warm, the parents got lattes.....  If every week is as successful as the first one we are in for a great season and smiles all around!

five on friday

{one}  Today I am wearing my new white jeans.  When they came in the mail and they fit, I still couldn't decide if I wanted to keep them.  I liked them, but I wasn't sure what I would wear with them.  I was telling my dilemma to Dee and she told me to wear with my new leopard flats and a grey Tshirt.   So that is what I did.   Tags are off, they are mine to keep!

{two} I volunteered at school on Tuesday and as the kids were coming in from outside a boy ran up to the teacher and said that Grady and his friend peed on the bush outside.  Seriously, he had to do this on a day that I was at school?  I guess we have to have a little talk about appropriate places to pee.  I think it is a boy thing as I remember my brother getting in trouble for this exact same thing when he was young.

{three}  We survived the swim lesson after the incident last week where Cooper was pushed off the ledge during his lesson.  Ironically, this is the first lesson he didn't tell me repeatedly that he didn't want to go.  He marched right in like a champ!  Kids are strange, they will remember the strangest of details from months ago, yet he seems to have forgotten that he was pushed in the water last week.

{four}  After my successful spin/barre class last week, I am attempting my second one tonight.  I love the mix of cardio and strength and feel empowered after.  James and I are going for dinner after, like a mini date night.  I'm looking forward to my evening.  Exercise, dinner, and wine.... perfect!

{five}  I have 4 days off this weekend and the forecast calls for rain every day.  After a horrible winter, I feel like we deserve a better spring than what we are getting.  Soccer is at a huge risk of being cancelled again this week.  That would be 3 out of 4 cancelled.  Upon writing this, I realize I didn't post about soccer last week.  Note to self to get that post ready for next week!

Happy Friday!

Adventure day

Tuesday was a day that Grandma would refer to an 'Adventure'.  When we vacation with her, the kids have learned to love when Grandma announced that we are going on an adventure.  I on the other hand and frowning in the background wondering what exactly grandma is going to suggest....  I am NOT adventurous.  Did you know that my mom went bungee jumping a few years back?  Another story for another time.

Anyhoo, on Tuesday, my day off, I asked the kids what they wanted to do and they suggested taking the ctrain.  For most adults, taking the ctrain is a chore, but for 2 young boys is an adventure!  We usually plan an activity on my afternoons off since if the 3 of us stay home there is usually a lot of fighting.  First the boys fight over what to play, watch, or do and then I get frustrated and then get mad.  The day seems to be much more enjoyable when we go on an outing.

Because we were heading down in the early afternoon, each of the kids got a seat to themselves.  I love the look on Grady's face as the train pulled away.

The kids each found a newspaper left behind on the morning commute and flipped through only to find that there was a picture of the Montreal and Boston game.  Grady insisted we take the newspaper home.  So we did.

After a 15ish minute train ride where the kids pointed out all the garbage cans we saw (??), we arrived at the indoor play area at the mall.  James met us for lunch.  It was nice.  The kids really didn't want to leave.

I finally got them away from the play area but promising them a treat of ice cream.  Cooper wore most of his mint chip ice cream (yuck!) on his face.
We made a quick stop at Indigo to 'look' and Grady really wanted to buy a magazine about the Olympic hockey teams.  At first I said no and he was really persistent.  He wanted to cut the pictures out and put on his wall.   I told him he could use his tooth fairy money that was still stuck on the fridge.  He was so upset that we would have to come back another day after we got the money off the fridge.  I tried to explain the concept of me lending the money to him but he wasn't grasping it at all.  So I bought it and will pocked his $5.  He'll never know anyway!

On the way back to the train stop, we learned about crossing the street and if you can see the walking man it was safe to cross.  Cooper wouldn't walk across the street, so he had to be put in the stroller.  He was scared of all the cars and trains surrounding us.  I guess a little fear is a good thing.

We caught the train back home and the kids happily read their new magazine.

All in all, it was a very successful day.  The kids have already asked when we will do it again.  Who knew a public transit could be so exciting!

Here's to a very adventurous Tuesday afternoon!

Mother's Day

On Mother's day, I celebrate my own mom and try to make her feel special and loved even though we don't have the pleasure of living in the same city. Thankfully my brother took good care of her in Saskatoon.

I also take the opportunity to celebrate the 2 little boys that made me a mom.

If you look closely at my necklace, it is homemade one from Grady.  Last week we went to  4 Cats to do make some Mother's Day gifts.  They started out being for Grandma and Nana.  By the time we left, Grady was keeping his since he made it with Flames colors and Cooper was giving his to Jasmin.  Grady let me wear his since it was Mother's Day.  I was honored.  Sorry Grandma and Nana!  Ha!

We started Mother's Day with pedicures.  As much as I love spending the day with the kids.  I like to have something planned where I can take a Mommy break and just relax.  Bo and Marla joined me for an hour escape.  It was heavenly.  If I can't spend Mother's Day with my Mom, the next best thing is my MIL who raised me a mighty fine husband!

From there, we headed to Bo and Dave's for lunch.  It was a super yummy Wife Saver.  After we finished eating, Dave informed us he forgot to put in 3 cups of milk.  I seriously didn't notice and thought it was so tasty!

After a quick brunch we spent the afternoon at the rink, like usual.  Today was Cooper's last day of parented lessons so I dragged the big camera with me and got some great shots through the glass.

Cooper starts unparented lessons next week.  I have no doubt that he will be fine.  It can't be worse then swimming after all.

We spent 2 hours at the rink watching random hockey games and playing mini sticks in the hall.  It was a long 2 hours.  Then it was Grady's turn to hit the ice.

I swear this kid is non stop smiles from the time he gets on the ice.  I love his passion for the sport.  They were also told last week that they would get to play a game this week. I was concerned that he misunderstood and that there would be no game.  I was wrong.  Everything was set up when we arrived for 2 half ice games and they played the whole hour.  They had shifts and went to the 'break bench' when they weren't playing. He was super pumped.

We had planned to go for dinner after skating but opted to order in pizza instead.  The kids were spent, and truthfully, so were we.

Grady had told me earlier in the week that he 'wanted to take me to My Favorite Ice Cream Shoppe so I can play Pac Man'.  We also opted out of that.  The kids were in bed and sleeping before 8 and that wouldn't have happened with the above 2 activities.

While it was Mother's Day, it is just another day.  We can eat out another day, we can go for ice cream another day, our sanity of making it through the day became more important!

We ended the day with a family game of mini sticks.  The Penguins,

Vs. the Flames.

For the record, the Flames won.  Trust me, it had nothing to do with me!

I enjoyed my day.  It was a typical day, but it was special.  I got exactly what I asked for Mother's Day from James and the boys, I got my toes painted, enjoyed watching the boys do their thing on the ice, and enjoyed my pizza dinner.  It may not have been an extravagant day, but it was good Sunday!

I leave this post with a video of Grady scoring one of six goals in his game.  He was a rock star out there.  This one is for you Nana.

Password is score.

PS - Grady is wearing a blue jersey, has green laces, and is number 13.

Five on Friday

A follow up from Tuesdays 'Very Random' Post.

{one} On Thursday, my substitute day off, I got the pleasure of spending my morning with this cutie for his mother's day event at school.

It was so sweet.  The teacher called out Coopers name when I came in the class and he came running up with his hand behind his back and presented me with a bracelet and lots of hugs.  They sang a few songs and we were on his way. I forgot my purse in the class and had to go back and fetch it, the we were on our way!

{two}  I survived my spin/barre class and actually liked it.

My 'yay I survived' face!
It was 35 minutes of spin followed by 35 minutes of Barre.  What I really liked is that the barre teacher did the spin class and vice versa.  The spin was, well, spin.  It was hard and I was sweaty.  The condensed barre class was 10 minutes barre, 10 minutes arms, and 10 minutes core.  I feel like I got a great workout and blasted Micheal Jackson in the van on the way home.  It felt great!

{three}  Swim class was an utter disaster.  A kid pushed Cooper off the ledge as we watched from our seats.  I immediately wanted to get up and run to him.  It killed me to see him so upset.  James told me to chill and that he would be fine.  In the end it was the right thing to do.  Cooper got back up on the ledge and jumped.  It was what he needed to do.   After the lesson he came out the water and jumped in to my arms and cried.  It broke my heart to see him so upset.  This session has been a train wreck truthfully.  All I want Cooper to get from the lessons is for him to like the water.  So far, this is not happening.  It will be interesting to see how Cooper does next week, that is if we can even get him in the water...

{four}  Over the weekend we bought Cooper a 2 wheeler bike off kijiji.  We thought he may be able to go straight to 2 wheels but the kid doesn't know how to pedal.  We put the training wheels on the bike and let him ride a bit before bed last night, but the kid has a lot of work to do!  Balance he has down pat, now to work on the pedaling.

{five}  Tomorrow will be our third attempt at soccer.  Cooper will be devastated if it is cancelled again.  The forecast is calling for rain on Saturday but I am optimistic that it will be OK.  It has to be, it is mid may already.  Right?

Very Random

Today is Tuesday.  My usual day off.  This week, I am working Tuesday and taking Thursday off to attend Cooper's Mother's Day gathering at Cooper's school in the last 15 minutes of class.  It makes it just a little bit hard for a working mom to take 11:15 to 11:30 off work to attend.  So I swapped days.  I'm not sure what parents who work full time do.  The amount of school 'events' that happen during working hours is growing....

Tonight is swimming.  We'll rush home and head to the pool to watch the boys.  They never want to go, but in the end both seem to enjoy it.  This is Cooper's first unparented session and it's had its ups and down.  He is in a level 1/2 split.  He is the smallest and the least comfortable in the water.  He is still much better than Grady was at 3 years old but I feel they are really pushing Cooper to keep up to the more advanced swimmers.  One time he started to cry when we brought him to the teacher which is so unlike our laid back guy.  I told the teacher that I didn't care if he put his face in the water as long as he was having fun.   Of course he put his face in over and over that day... kids!

Thursday I am booked in for a Spin/Barre class.  Not to long ago they had an open house at the gym and offered free 20 minute sessions.  I did a spin class.  I didn't hate it.  I may even say I liked it a teeny tiny bit.  I had a different instructor and sat on the side so I could see what the instructor was doing.  It went way better.  In the hybrid class I think you do each exercise for 30 minutes. If it goes well it may become my class of choice.  A little spin cardio and some barre for strength. Perfect combo if you ask me.

I successfully completed my April spending freeze.  I did not buy a single article of clothing the entire month.  It was hard, but I did it.  I needed to prove to myself that I could stop shopping if I wanted to.  And I can.  I celebrated by buying some shoes on May 1st!

Cooper's speech therapist was so pleased with his improvement this week.  He is rockin' it.  It really helps that we can see the difference. These weekly sessions aren't cheap and they really motivate us to stick with the homework so that our time with her is not wasted.  We are just waiting for him to start using it spontaneously. In a 'learning' setting the kid is on fire! So proud of him.

Weekend

Saturday morning we woke up to this:

While I was expecting snow, I was not expecting this much!

Because of all the white stuff, soccer was cancelled for the second week in the row.  This kid was very upset and insisted on wearing his soccer uniform for the rest of the day.

With the unexpected free morning, we took the kids for haircuts, went for groceries, and I spent the early afternoon in the kitchen.  I made about 75 meatballs.

Then I made 2 banana loaves.

All that cooking meant a big mess in the kitchen.

So while I cleaned the kitchen Grady and I played our own version of Win Lose or Draw.  We thought of a person to draw and the other person guessed.  See if you can guess any of the people below.

Starting top left:  Jarome Iginla, Grady, Referee, Kiptyn and Chantelle
When the kitchen was somewhat cleaned, we brought the net in the garage and shut the door since the weather was so terrible.  The kids enjoyed roller blading indoors and I enjoyed watching them from the doorway :)

As usual, Sunday we spent the afternoon at the rink.  This week Grady was easy to spot as we added the number '13' to his jersey.  His favorite player Mike Cammalleri's number from the flames.  Seriously, imagine 35 kids on the ice all in the same jersey, the number made it super easy to spot him!

With the playoffs in full swing we have been watching a lot of hockey.

I've even gotten into it and declared that I am cheering for Boston because my favorite player Jarome Iginla plays on Boston and has never won the cup.  Cooper on the other hand is cheering for Montreal.  He actually cried when they lost on Saturday.  So cute!

All in all it was a pretty good weekend considering the weather.  What can you do? It can't snow for ever... can it?
