We had Nicholas and his parents over to watch the superbowl a few weeks back. These boys have known each other since Grady was born (Nicholas is 3 months older). It is great to see the little boys (and big boys) having so much fun together. The big boys watched the football game, the little boys played, and the girls chatted!
This particular outing was the first time the boys had shown so much interest in each other. They chased each other around, giggled, and Nicholas even gave Grady a great big hug! I can just tell they are only going to have more fun together as they get older. This means trouble!
They even laid on Grady's little pull out couch together. Stacey thinks that they would have fun at a sleep over... I said only if it was at her house!
We have been having great weather in Calgary... could spring have sprung early this year??? Grady sure hopes so!
He was so excited he just had to wear my rubber boots.
So Aunty Blaire and I picked him up a pair of his own last weekend just in time for the 'heat wave'. At first he was pretty unsure of the boots but then became quite fond of them and didn't wan to take them off.
We took him out to play in the puddles the very next day and James let him fall in one and he needed a pant change.
Like I mentioned in the last post, Grady loves to act like his mom and dad. This is another typical look around our house. Grady and his 'purse'. James hates that I call it that but really what else could it be?? Once I even picked Grady up from daycare and he had a play purse around his neck. Apparently they were shopping. James was less than impressed.
Next, he finds the keys. Any keys will do really. Except the fake set that Nana made for him out of real keys. Kids are smart! He knows exactly what to do them.....
Needless to say we spend a lot of our time playing in the entrance way...
Sevice Canada just released the names of all babies born in Alberta this year. In 2009, there were only 26 Grady's born in all of Alberta. This is down from 52 in 2008 (the year Grady was born). And although in 2008 there were 2 female Grady's. Odd I know. There were no girls named Grady in 2009!
Double Double? - No thank you. Unless is comes for Tim Horton's. Not even then as we all know I prefer Second cup. But that is for another post.
This week we had a double double. Double pink eye. Double ear infection. Yikes. I say 'we' since for James and I it meant administrating eye cream, giving penicillin, and lack of sleep. For Nana it meant 3 full days in a row of Grady-sitting since he was banned from daycare for 48 hours.
The part that frustrates me the most is that we had no idea he had an ear infection. He obviously had pink eye as there was puss leaking out of his eye lid. But neither James nor I had any clue both of his ears were infected. We are secretly (or not so secretly) hoping that this is the reason he has not been sleeping much for the past 10ish days.
So after one treatment of the cream the eye seems to have cleared up. We still gave it to him for a few extra days to be sure. On top of that he has enough penicillin to last him 10 days for the ear infection......
All things considered he is in good spirits and still a rowdy little boy. Just how we like him!!
There is a reason that 1 year olds generally don't have music recitals. A few reasons actually.
Don't get me wrong, I understand why one may at first thing it is a good idea. How cute are a bunch of little people performing their little hearts out? Very - if they in fact performed. Which they don't. Even though their parents bring grandparents and aunts and uncles to show off their star performer. How many times must we be told to that children don't perform on command? Many times. I think I need to hear it again.
So have I peeked your curiosity as to how our little 19 month old did at the recital? If not you probably don't want to watch the video. I assure you that if you do choose to watch all 3 minutes of it, you will see what I should have expected from the recital. Sadly, I had higher expectations.
I started writing out what happened and then erased it. The video just shows it all too well.
So without further a due.... I present our talented son and his friends at what may be his last recital until he is 12 years old!

A while back we decided to go Telus World of Science here in the city and it was a blast. I had never been and James has been talking about wanting to go back since way before Grady was born. We attempted to go back in October but Grady got sick and we had to postpone. So 3 months later we finally made it and we are so glad we did. It was a little pricey for 2 hours of play but Grady seemed to like it.
They have this area called 'WOWtown' which is targeted towards children 3-7 and kids older than this are not allowed. I learned this from the website the night before. I had originally set out to find out what time it opened and found there was a wealth of information on there! The most important thing I learned was that there was a water area and parents were advised to bring a change of clothes for the younger children. Yes - we did bring one. Yes - we used it!
Of course that is the first thing Grady found upon arriving at WOWtown. I love that this shot captures the water hitting his original shirt and shows how wet he was about to get.
They also have a biggest indoor jungle gym I have seen. Grady was too little for it so he insisted on standing at the entrance and throwing his ball instead. A slight annoyance for the older kids trying to blast by him.
This was seriously the theme of the science center. RUN RUN RUN. He would run to one item. Play for 30 seconds and run to the next. You could see the excitement oozing out of him!

I love this picture. Look at the size and location of the hands. I did a face print of myself and I swear it looked like me. I sometimes think these places are more for the kid at heart (aka adult) than the kids!
This thing was super cool. It shot out air and the ball would balance it self in the air. It was like magic! As you can imaging Grady (like any 19 months old) wanted the ball to play with. He tried so hard to get it down but the wind blowing in his face got the best of him and he just couldn't do it (without a little help)!
We enjoyed the trip to the science center a lot and will be back soon I am sure!!
